Lucas’ love of tennis began as a 7 year old in Brisbane, Australia. He trained at a number of centres, working with coaches at each one, that were perfectly suited to his level, and building his skills to allow him to compete on the Australian Junior Tour across Qld & NSW as a 10-16 year old. As his game developed, his love of the game increased and he was able to travel the country playing at a national level, reaching a career high national Top 15 ranking in his age group at the age of 15.
He has worked as a tennis coach at a number of prestigious clubs across the Brisbane area, including the Qld State Tennis Centre (Home of the Pat Rafter Arena), as well as the University of Qld. Work has seen him move to the Newcastle area, where we were lucky to have him join our team at Cagney Tennis Academy in 2024, where he has brought high energy, enthusiasm and a “second-to-none” professional attitude towards his position and clients.
Lucas’ immense knowledge of tennis has been garnered over almost 25 years playing experience at an elite level across Australia, as well as 15 years coaching on the East Coast of Australia, working with many professional and head coaches, as well as tennis business owners. Lucas has a background in Psychology. and a keen interest in working with players on their mental approach to the game.
We are incredibly lucky to have him with us and we are excited to watch our clients really benefit from his expertise and ability to provide techniques, knowledge and information to help them and their games improve to their maximum potential and beyond!
