Darcy Mansfield – Junior Tennis Coach at Cagney Tennis Academy
Darcy’s tennis journey began in 2016 at just nine years old, training right here at Cagney Tennis Academy. From his first days in the orange ball program through to competing in yellow ball leagues, Darcy’s passion and dedication saw him quickly rise through the ranks. He now competes alongside some of the top junior players in the Hunter Region, regularly participating in tennis tournaments and RMS-level events across Newcastle, Eleebana, and surrounding areas.
In 2021, Darcy transitioned from player to tennis coach, learning under the guidance of Head Professional and Academy Owner Derek Cagney. Since then, he has become an integral part of the coaching team — leading classes for younger players, assisting at holiday clinics, and excelling with the ANZ Hot Shots programs (Red, Orange, and Green ball).
Darcy has successfully completed the Tennis Australia Community Coaching Course, earning top marks and recognition for his professionalism. His calm, patient, and encouraging nature allows him to connect effortlessly with young players, helping them build confidence and develop a lifelong love for tennis.
Mature beyond his years, Darcy continues to grow as both a coach and player. His enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and passion for the sport make him a valuable part of the Cagney Tennis Academy team — inspiring the next generation of players across Eleebana, Fletcher, Lakelands, Valentine, Newcastle, and the Central Coast.
